3/27/2023 0 Comments Gen 6 momotype steel team![]() ![]() Aegislash was totally gangbusters in Generations 6 and 7 for other reasons but its typing, but at least its typing wasn’t completely broken. ![]() Steel pokemon no longer resist ghost, as of gen 6, unfortunately to keep Aegislash’s Steel/Ghost typing from being utterly gangbusters. Hitting Dragons super effectively really only benefits you for the final battle against Palkia, but Ghost-Fairy move pair is really strong. Ghosts also get fairy moves (as of gen 6) to also deal with the various Dark bois, with an added bonus of hitting Fighting types super effectively. Even if there were Steel/Fairies, we have Typhlosion-H and Basculegion for the Rock/Fairies. Do be mindful from their psychic moves, but still hitting them with STAB Sludge Bomb is fun as heck. *sigh* Fairies are annoying to deal with, since they can pack strong Shadow Balls, but there are no Fairies in Hisui Gengar can’t absolutely murder. A ghost monotype fighting a spiritomb was hell pre-gen 6, but it also made it hell for it to be on a ghost monotype. With the fairy type being introduced made Spiritomb weak to it. They also spoiled the fun with Spiritomb, because before gen 6 Spiritomb’s Dark/Ghost typing was legendary, having no natural weaknesses. Ghosts appreciate fairies’ abilities to murder dark pokemon, but don’t like their high special attack and overall bulkiness. Both a good thing for them and a bad thing for them. Ghosts have a mixed relationship with fairies. Pepper in a Dark move and you’ve got it back. However, with the introduction of Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark, two pokemon you can use, this is simply untrue. When paired with fighting, ghost/fighting hits Dark and Normal pokemon super effectively, thereby giving a once-perfect type coverage. True, normal is immune to Ghost, which can get frustrating, but I haven’t yet seen a Ghost pokemon with only ghost type moves. The only pokemon that resists Ghost is Dark. Most psychic pokemon in Hisui are straight up weak to Ghost and not Dark, with the only exception being Wyrdeer (weak to dark, but immune to Ghost), versus the number of psychics that take 1x damage from Dark (Gallade, Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevior, Mr. Ghost is super effective against itself and Psychic which is really nice to have. Lots of random pokemon pack Bite or Crunch but a lot of your ghosts are decently bulky, so it alright. You’re not going to encounter many ghost type moves other than from, well, other ghosts and Bronzors and Bronzongs. Ghost is weak to itself and Dark, which is ok. Ghost is great defensively on paper it’s immune to Normal and Fighting, resists Bug and Poison, all four of those types are really common attacking types for a story mode adventure. ![]() However, feel free to swap around the non-legendary ghosts as you see fit. Either form of Giratina is off limits as per Hard-mode rules, but you’re free to have it on your team after you defeat Volo in the Soft rule variant. We’ve got 10 non-legendary or mythical pokemon! You’ve got tons of spoops to choose from. Here are all of the fully evolved pokemon of Hisui: From Left: Typhlosion-H, Drifblim, Gengar, Spiritomb, Basculegion-Male, Basculegion-Female, Rotom-Base form, Mismagius, Froslass, Zoroark-H, Giratina-Altered, Giratina-Origin Ghost is my favorite pokemon type if you haven’t guessed, and I do have the experience doing a Ghost Monotype of Pokemon Legends: Arceus semi-blind. However, we do have to contend with how annoying Spiritomb is to capture, so I’d give it a medium ranking. Considering how many random pokemon have Bite, Crunch, Night Slash, and Snarl you’d think that this would be a hard run, but it’s quite easy since there are a couple of good ghosts that are neutral to Dark moves, and Ghost is one of the six starter types. Ghost, like Dragon, is weak to itself, but also weak to the Dark type. This time we’ll be working on a very spooky type: Ghost! Hisui brings a huge variety of ghosts, unlike that of pre-elite 4 Sinnoh in BDSP, so we’ve got options. Welcome to my series started here on working on potential monotype runs for Pokemon Legends: Arceus. ![]()
